Stephen Butz received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Cornell University in New York where he studied science and agriculture education. He has worked as a curriculum writer for the Cornell Instructional Material Service, where he developed and wrote curriculum for use in environmental and agricultural education. Steve has received numerous awards for his work including the E. Laurence Palmer Award for Excellence in Environmental Education, and the American Association for Agricultural Education: Eastern Region Outstanding Publication Awards in 1994, 1995, and 1996.
Steve has taught Earth and Environmental Science at both the college and secondary school level for more than ten years. He has taught Earth and Environmental Science as an instructor at Salem Washington Academy, Hudson Falls Central School, and Cambridge Central School in New York and as an Adjunct Professor at Tompkins Cortland Community College. In addition, Steve has authored numerous books on the subjects of science, technology, and history, including The Science of Earth Systems, The Bone Race: a Quest for Dinosaur Fossils, Practical Applications of Biotechnology, Humans and Ecosystems: Wildlife Issues and Actions, Habitat: Wildlife Issues and Actions, as well as numerous student and teacher manuals and workbooks for subjects in agriculture, environmental, and earth sciences.
